The core purpose of NAWIC is to promote and enhance the success of women in the Construction Industry. Education is one of the mediums we capitlaize on in order to support NAWIC’s purpose. We host the annual Esther Weiloch Ventola Scholarship for students in the community pursuing careers in the construction field. Supporting and exposing the young generation to construction careers is a way to build tomorrow’s leaders. The scholarship fund is dedicated in memory of a deceased chapter member that was a strong advocate for supporting educational opportuities in the construction industry.
Applications are available to local high schools, vocational schools and colleges in the surrounding Greater Worcester community that offer construction related programs. Applicants must be pursuing an education and career in a construction related field. Programs may include trade school, architecture, construction management, engineering, mechanical engineering, Building Information Modeling (BIM),etc. We consider high school seniors and those already enrolled full time in a construction related program.
The Board of Directors determines the amount of scholarship funds to be awarded and it is the Scholarship Committee’s job to review the applications and select the recipients. Based on the number of qualified applicants, the committie will decide the monetary value to be awarded to each recipient. Scholarship recipients are notified in June after the Annual Golf Classic.
Each year NAWIC National awards over $25,000 to worthy recipients in construction-related programs through the NAWIC Founders’ Scholarship Foundation (NFSF). Award amounts range from $1,000 to $2,000. Applications must be postmarked by March 15th of each year to qualify for competition.
The NAWIC Founders’ Scholarship Foundation is an equal opportunity organization, and encourages applications from all individuals.
